In the eye
The eye is passing over us now. Calm and quiet. The building is holding up well apart from some roof sheets that blew off. The second part of the cyclone will be here in 10-15 minutes. Tully Civic Centre 1 – Cyclone Yasi 0
Sitting and waiting
We are sitting in the council building in Tully. It’s cyclone-proof so we should be Ok. Cyclone Yasi is due to cross the coast close to here around 2300-2400 so I don’t think we’ll be getting too much sleep later. Cyclone Yasi – That’s settled it. It’s a Cat 5 and we’re leaving
5am and the latest BoM advice says that Cyclone Yasi is now a Cat 5 and will cross the coast about 15 miles north of where we live. I’m packing Lisa and the kittens into the car and dropping them at her office which is cyclone-proof. Stay lucky, fellow FNQers. Normal blogging will be resumed [...]
